Trump's Granddaughter Seeks Expert Tips from Tiger Woods Before LPGA First Appearance
The rising star maintains substantial social media audience
Kai Trump can count on plenty of prominent backers when she starts her first LPGA appearance later this week.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be related to Donald Trump, obtained a special exemption to play at the Annika tournament in the Sunshine State.
Her grandfather, someone who loves golf, owns several international courses and often competes against his granddaughter.
"He's quite skilled. I shouldn't elaborate but we have some close matches," she stated.
The golfer shared that her grandfather, unable to come, advised her: "Simply stay calm."
"He practically advised me to go out there and have fun," she added.
"In my eyes, he's just an ordinary family member. He won't be there for the tournament. He's focused on running the country, making him quite busy."
As an amateur, Kai has played in a mere three competitions recently and has ranking 461 in the American Junior Golf Association standings.
But she's able to receive tips from 15-time major champion, romantically involved with her mother.
"He stands as the top athlete worldwide," Kai stated.
"Additionally, he's a superior person. He told me to compete, have fun, and go with the flow."
She'll challenge several top competitors in professional golf at the competition, such as second-ranked Nelly Korda, England's golfer Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
Officials commented that involving Kai helps introduce golf to new audiences, particularly with the next generation.
The young star boasts substantial online presence and has started a personal fashion and living company.
The competition starts at 5:30 PM GMT.
