Tributes Flow for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt ready to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can at last put my grief into words," posted Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he could not remember "any day without laughter".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a separate essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive placed a security hold on the cases to prohibit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
In the wake of the killings, public personalities shared different responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative remarks that were widely condemned by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the critics last week. Talking on his show, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disturbing" and implied they showed a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an associate ought to have stepped in when the choice to speak on the passing was made.
